Western Australia

06.01-22.01.2009

Western Australia is exceptional and beautiful. We were moving north from Perth up the Western Coast to Exmouth for the first week and a half. Later in only one day we returned back to Perth making 1300km during 12-hour journey. The last three days of our stay felt in Margaret River located south from Perth.
All together we did 5500 km, took probably the same amount of photos and got plenty of nice memories.
Perth is the most remote city in the world! That makes the West Coast less populated than the East Coast, but at the same time there is plenty of attractions in not such a long distance apart. We visited Nambung National Park where we could admire magnificent Pinnacles. We saw gorgeous gorges on the Murchinson River in Kalbarri National Park, than the Unesco patronized World Heritage Drive in Shark Bay and dolphins in Monkey Mia.
We were snorkeling in Coral Bay and Exmouth on the Ningaloo Reef (compared by many with The Great Barrier Reef and sometimes even more acclaimed). We saw many interesting species of fauna, some animals in the wild, some in a zoo, some in their underwater world and sadly many dead by the road… We tried to surf in Margaret River - the best surfing spot in the area, watched sea turtle lying her eggs on the beach, were roasting in 46 degrees and we did not want to leave.
